17 years ago I took Flucloxacillin to clear an infection on my leg and ended up with Cholestatic Hepatitis, which has now turned to Cirrhosis. I was very disappointed with the drug companies lack of care back then and hope that they have now started to show more compassion to people who are allergic. As I am about to be listed on the liver transplant register I would like to say that I am very thankful to the Aust Govt, who cover the costs of all transplants in Australia, and to the wonderful people who donate their organs when they pass away, as without them lots of recipients of organs wouldn't make it at all.

I had a left Total Hip Replacement (THR) 8 weeks ago and am very pleased with the results; walking and normal activities are ok & pain level zero. I had a right Total Knee Replacement (TKR) 13 months ago by a different surgeon and still have pain & stiffness which causes me to limp. The knee skin temperature is 35°C compared to my right knee 31°C and there is still signs of swelling in the knee cap area. My present surgeon has taken new X-rays and I am to see him soon to see if there is a problem and if he can help me. I hope this info is helpful.

My age is 76, and am due to have a total knee replacement, I have seen the orthopaedic surgeon, and as I am being treated with Voltarin, and coping fairly well, I am hesitant to have the operation, I am so thankful, that I have private health care, to use when the time comes. And a good surgeon, and hospital.

I think more needs to be done to provide transparency in costs. Surgeons and specialists and the hospitals are providing estimates. The subsequent flow of bills from pathologists, anaesthetists and X-Ray etc. The gaps are still too high and also unpredictable.
